Independent Drivers Guild of New York Hold Successful Second Drivers Appreciation Day

10 Sep 2021

August 7, 2021 — The Independent Drivers Guild of New York packed the Forest Park of Queens with hundreds of drivers and their families gathering to enjoy fun activities, good weather, and great food together.

After not being able to celebrate Drivers Appreciation Day during 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the New York chapter of the IDG wanted to make this year special. The day turned out to be not only a wonderful way to reconnect with fellow drivers but also a way to learn about important resources available to them.

The IDG event had representatives from Drivers Benefits available to sign drivers up for free benefits, a team from MetroPlus to screen people for free or low-cost healthcare, and the NYC Health+Hospitals vaccine van there to distribute COVID-19 vaccines (and COVID-19 vaccine first-timers qualified for $100 from New York City!).

At the end of the day, Drivers Appreciation Day of 2021 was a great success. At the IDG, we appreciate opportunities like these to bring members of the driving community together. Over the past year, we have not had many chances to celebrate what we’ve accomplished. We thank everyone who came out and helped make this day special, and we look forward to next year’s event.
