What is the NY Uber & Lyft settlement?
Lyft and Uber agreed to a settlement with the Office of the New York State Attorney General after a multi-year investigation into both companies that found they withheld hard-earned pay from drivers and prevented drivers from receiving valuable benefits.
The settlement does two things:
1) Provides $328 million in back payments to Uber and Lyft drivers who provided New York State trips between 2014 and 2017. 2) Requires new benefits and support for all workers who currently drive for Lyft or Uber in New York State.
Who qualifies for settlement payments?
If you completed at least one Uber or Lyft trip in New York State between the following dates, you may qualify for payment.
- Lyft drivers: between October 11, 2015, and July 31, 2017
- Uber drivers: between November 10, 2014 through May 22, 2017
The Attorney General is working with Lyft and Uber to create a list of drivers who may qualify. Per the claims administrator, you must complete and file the Claim Form online or by mail to be eligible for a settlement payment.
